| We were asked by
Score International, a
mission organization based in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, to come and help build an orphanage in
San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. Score International was
founded by Ron Bishop,
who grew up in Blacksburg,
South Carolina. We will have the privilege of working with a
missionary couple out of the First Baptist of
Elkhart, Indiana, Tim
and Ginny Craiger
The
footings were in when we arrived along with two courses of block and we went
up with the walls, installed the plumbing and electrical rough in and poured
the floor on one of the buildings. We were housed at Score International’s
housing complex, Score Hotel, which is located just a few miles from where
we were working, The facility was spacious and clean with dorm rooms,
kitchen, dining and meeting rooms.
This was
a trip of great importance to the ministry of Score International and
Carpenters for Christ alike. Much was accomplished toward the goal of
Score International at this facility which includes a church, which is
already completed and in use, 2 dormitory units, a school and a baseball
diamond on their 3 1/2 acres of property .
Below
are some pictures recorded during our week of service there.
